Clair F. Gunther

Clair F. Gunther, 87, of Mayetta passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.

He was born May 8, 1928 in rural Soldier, Kansas the son of William E. and Flossie M. (Fisher) Gunther.  He graduated from Soldier High School in 1946.  On June 25, 1950 Clair married Marie V. Hedges in Holton.  She survives of the home. He had worked for Goodyear for over 30 years and was also a farmer.  He was a member of the Local 307 United Steel Workers and was a member of Denison Bible church where he served on the Elder Board, taught Sunday school and was an Awana Leader. 

In addition to his wife Marie, Clair is also survived by: his daughter, Dixie Battey and her husband Randy of Aberdeen, SD; his sons, Curtis Gunther and his wife Rogene of Washburn, IA and Bruce Gunther and his wife Reggi of Topeka, KS; his half sister, Gloria Ryan of California; his brother, Jean Gunther of Topeka, KS; and his 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Gunther and his grandson Ryan Gunther in 2008.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Denison Bible Church.  Burial will follow in Denison Cemetery.  The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.  Memorials are suggested to Denison Bible Church and may be sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
