Lela Wenz, 93, of Falls City, NE, passed away October 19, 2015 at Lincoln, NE. She was born October 11, 1922 at Falls City to the late Fred and Margarita (Reschke) Mez.

On November 24, 1943 she married Elmer Wenz at Hiawatha, Kansas. He passed away January 24, 1972.

Lela was raised on a farm in rural Falls City, when she was done with her schooling she became a housekeeper until becoming married. When married, the couple established their home on the current family farm and has lived there since. Lela was a farm wife, working alongside her husband until his death and she continued to farm, even helping Leon when he took over the farming operation. She was also involved with live stock on the farm. Lela loved to garden and can her garden harvest. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th and Towel Street).

Lela is survived by a son, Leon and his wife Mary of Falls City, daughters, Lois Williams of Auburn, NE, Lavina Zentner and her husband Gary and Lucy Strasil and her husband Thomas both of Falls City, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Linda Church, sisters, Wilma Scholl, Alta Fugett, Alma Hunker, Gertie Wenz.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Father Larry Parrish officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin on Thursday afternoon at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
