Benjamin W. “Ben” Wilson, Jr., 73, Atchison, Kansas died Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Atchison Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 30, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Second Christian Church with Rev. Paul Kelley officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Friday, Oct. 30th from Noon until time of services at the church.  Interment will be Monday, November 2, 2015 at 12:30 P.M. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Second Christian Church and may be left in care of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom the final arrangements have been entrusted.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Benjamin was born September 7, 1942 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Benjamin Robert and Hattie Pearl Hannah Wilson, Sr.  Ben was raised in his early years by his loving grandparents, Harold and Gail Wilson. He attended Lincoln School, Atchison Junior High School and graduated from Atchison High School in 1960.

He and Constella Winrow were united in marriage on August 23, 1962 in Atchison, Kansas.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1964.
He was employed at several jobs, but his main employments were with Missouri Pacific Railroad, Atchison Youth Center and Atchison Valley Hope.

Ben was a life-long member at Second Christian Church.  His love of Christ started at a young age.  He became a “preacher” long before his calling of becoming an Elder at the church.  He served on the Deacon Board and Board of Directors for many years.  He was very instrumental in leading souls to Christ from Valley Hope.  Ben enjoyed singing with the Rivermen, Jesus Children and the Second Christian Choir.  After retiring, Ben’s favorite activities were watching westerns, sports and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Constella “Connie” Wilson of the couple’s home in Atchison, three daughters, Veronica Ann (Stanton) Parker, Kansas City, Kansas, Nicola (Dione) Thomas, Liberty, MO, Tanya Wilson, Atchison, KS, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
