 Lloyd Wayne “Butch” McKnight, Sr., 68, Atchison, Kansas died Friday, October 23, 2015 at his home.

Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Gabriel Landis, OSB as celebrant. Interment will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, October 27th from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Lloyd was born September 14, 1947 in Cameron, Missouri the son of Duane G. “Mac” and Gladys Pearl McKnight. He moved as a child with his family to Atchison, Kansas where he attended elementary schools, graduating from Atchison High School.

He and Delores “Lola” Gutierrez were united in marriage on August 2, 1969 in Emporia, Kansas.

Lloyd served with the United States Army from November 1, 1966 until his honorable discharge on October 31, 1969. He received training as a field communications crewman and teletype operator serving in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with four campaign stars.

Butch was employed as a truck driver for Hylton Trucking in DeSoto, Kansas for many years, formerly he drove for Contract Freighters, Inc. and Midwest Solvents Company.

He was a member of St. Benedict Parish. His greatest enjoyment was spending time boating on his pontoon at the lake. He and his family spent many memorable summers on family vacations.

Survivors include his wife, Delores “Lola” McKnight, of the couple’s home in Atchison, two sons, Eddie (Cindy) McKnight, Atchison, KS, Lloyd W. McKnight, Jr., Atchison, KS, four daughters, Billie Jo (Jason) White, Atchison, KS, Maria (Joe Schmelze) Flores, Atchison, KS, Angie (Yovany) Giron, Edwardsville, KS, Nicole (Dean) Miller, Eureka, KS, a brother, Leroy McKnight, St. Joseph, MO, three sisters, Betty Gonzales, Atchison, KS, Rita Tenpenny, Gladstone, MO, Beverly Kennedy, Atchison, KS and eighteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda McKnight Wilkinson.
