George Fuhrman, 81, of Hiawatha, KS died early Thursday morning, October 29, 2015 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.  

George was born November 11, 1933 on the family home place to John and Emma Erdley Fuhrman.  He graduated with the Hiawatha High School class of 1951.  He then went on to attend Highland Jr. College and graduated with a degree in Business.

He married Lulu Kleppe at United Brethern Church in Robinson  May 29, 1957.  They farmed and raised cattle all of their married life.  She survives of the home.

George was very active in the community serving on the La Grange School Board, Brown County Extension Board, and Trustee of Trinity United Methodist Church.  He loved work, raising crops, cattle, and his garden.  George was a true family man and loved them all dearly.

He is also survived by his children, Roger and Kathy Fuhrman of Aurora, IL, Vickie and Andy Walker of Belleville, KS, Terry and Jennifer Fuhrman of Hiawatha, KS, Mary Wendt of Goodland, KS, Linda and Brian Young of Belleville, KS, a sister, Marlene Dodd of Seneca, KS, 4 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, and 1 great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Hiawatha.  Pastor Priscilla Davies will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.

Friends may call the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 12 Noon Sunday.     Family Visitation will be 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. on Monday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.  Memorials are suggested in his name and will be designated at a later date.  They may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home 124 S. 7th St. Hiawatha, KS  66434.
