Lynn Robert “Bob” Vaughn

Lynn Robert “Bob” Vaughn, 84, of Hiawatha died shortly after arrival at Hiawatha Community Hospital, Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2015.

Bob was born at McCook, Nebraska, November 10, 1930, one of five children born to Lynn and Sarah Jean Underwood Vaughn.  The family moved to Idaho a few years before locating to Brown County where Bob had lived nearly all of his life.

Bob and Frances Bindle were married May 23, 1948, at Horton.  They were over the road truck drivers for different freight companies for many years before retiring after her death in 2000.  A few years after her death, he moved to Maple Grove Senior Apartments to live until moving to Maple Heights Nursing Home recently.

Survivors include a son Steven (Janet) Vaughn of Hiawatha; two daughters:  Pat (Delbert) Larson of Hiawatha, LaDonna (Stanley) Korthanke of Kearny, Missouri; a daughter in law Karen Vaughn of Nebraska City, Nebraska; a sister Callie Young of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was also preceded in death by his parents; son Michael in 2001; a grandson Troy Korthanke in 1980; a sister Laura Babbitt; two brothers:  Paul and Donnie.

Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Friday, November 6, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor Greg Pudwill officiating.  Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

The family will meet friends one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
