Lawrence "Al" Barton

Lawrence "Al" Barton, 68, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was born on August 29, 1947 in Horton, Kansas the son of Archie and Verna Scheid Barton. After Al graduated from Horton High School he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Al owned and operated Al's Motor Service in Horton from 1977 until retiring in 2014. He coached Horton Little League baseball for years, served as a Boy Scout Leader, was a member of the Gideon's International and the First Christian Church were he served as a elder. Al was a City Commissioner and served on the Park's and Recreation Board. Al also was the Bus Supervisor for U.S.D. #430 for 30 years. He enjoyed going deer hunting and spending time with his family.

On October 28, 1967 he married Diane Banaka in Fairview, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Ronald (Becky) Barton and James (Loretta) Barton both of Horton, Kansas; brother Leroy Barton of Michigan; three grandchildren, Donavan Barton, Brittany Barton and Shianna Barton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Horton, Kansas. Burial with Military Graveside Rites will be at the Horton Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
