Helen Tallant

Helen Lucille Wells Tallant was born to James and Minnie (Johnson) Wells on May 23, 1937 in Phelps City, Missouri.  She briefly attended elementary school in San Francisco, CA and when the family returned to Missouri, Helen graduated from the 8th grade in Phelps City and later graduated from Rockport High School in 1955. Helen was baptized in 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Phelps City, MO.  

She was united in marriage to Walter Tallant on December 20, 1955 at Council Bluffs, Iowa.  To this union four children were born, Michael, Donald, Lena and Pam.  She was married to Walter Tallant for 26 years and they were divorced in 1982.

Helen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cake decorating, making her own clothes and doing crafts.  She was an outdoor lady and loved being outside.  She always had a garden and loved planting flowers. Helen worked for many years for the Campbell’s Soup Company in Tecumseh.  She was a member of the Liberty American Legion Auxiliary. 

Helen passed away on November 13, 2015 at her home in Crab Orchard at the age of 78 years. 

She is survived by her children, Lena Tallant of Marysville, KS, Mike Tallant and wife Suzie of Liberty and Pam Dorn and husband Dalen of Barneston, daughter-in-law, Deb Tallant of St. Mary, grandchildren, Ian Tallant and wife Opal, Dusty Tallant and wife Julia, Kandace Tallant, Ashley Linck, T. J. Tremain and wife Gina, Chrissy Horn and husband John, Charli Tremain and Dustin Dorn, great-grandchildren, Amanda, JeriJeydon, Trinity and Peyton Tallant, Wesley Tremain, Ethan and Micah Horne, Jace, Rilee, Gracie and Asher Dorn.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Don Wells and son, Don Tallant. 

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, rural Sterling, Nebraska with Pastor Rob Clark officiating. Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Inurnment will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, Nebraska.  Memorials may go to the Hopewell United Methodist Church, rural Sterling, Nebraska.
