Emma Galbraith

Emma Katherine Galbraith, 96, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born on September 27, 1919 in rural Atchison County, Kansas the daughter of Jake and Jennie Olson Torkelson. Emma attended Pleasant Ridge grade school and graduated from A.C.C.H.S in Effingham, Kansas in 1937. She taught nine years at Forest Grove, Clear Creek and Maple Grove schools in Atchison County. On January 30, 1945 she married Irvin Camblin Jr. in Robinson, Kansas. Irvin passed away in a tractor accident on August 6, 1947. Emma then married Clarence "Hugh" Galbraith on December 29, 1952 in Emporia, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2000. Emma was a member of the Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas.

Survivors include two sons, Don (Kathy) Camblin of Everest, Kansas and Ken (Kelly) Galbraith of Auburn, Kansas; two sisters, Mildred Milburn of Waverly, Kansas and Joyce Richling of Horton, Kansas; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy Torkelson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery north of Everest, Kansas. Memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan Fund of Aldersgate Assisted Living or Susanna Wesley Church or the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
