Sonia D’Ann Irwin, 56, of St. Marys, KS, formerly of Topeka passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born July 3, 1959 in Seneca, KS, the daughter of Elmer L. and Phyllis M. Banwart Strahm. She graduated from Sabetha High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baker University.

Sonia was employed at Medevac MidAmerica and was also employed in other areas of the medical field. She served as Pastor at the Auburn and Scranton United Methodist Churches.

Sonia married Tony Cole on August 14, 1982 in Topeka. He preceded her in death in 1998. She married Reverend Dennis Irwin on December 16, 2006 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include her parents, Elmer and Phyllis Strahm of Sabetha, children, Bryan (Jessica) Cole and Jennifer (Austin Dinger) Cole both of Topeka, four grandchildren and one brother, Loel Strahm of Sabetha, KS.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lynn Creek Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Sonia will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
