 Michael L. Pierce was called home on Friday, November 27, 2015 following a lengthy illness at 

 
the age of 46 at his residence.
 
Memorial services will be Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Arensberg-Pruett 
 
Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Flack, officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, 
 
December 2nd from 6:30 until 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home and for one hour preceding 
 
services on Thursday.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Michael L. Pierce Memorial 
 
Fund to be established by his family at a later date and donations may be left in care of the 
 
funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.  
 
“I bet you wonder why I called you all here today.”  That’s what he would be saying as we 
 
gather to remember a life well lived, who ran the race set before him and finished well.
 
Michael (Mike) Leroy Pierce was born on February 2, 1969 to Willie and Josephine (Hillman) 
 
Pierce in Kansas City, Kansas.  Michael was the baby of the family and he always said, “They 
 
stopped when they got it right!” and “You can’t mess with perfection.”
 
Michael attended school in Leavenworth, Kansas graduating with the Leavenworth High class of 
 
1987. He was fortunate to have established lifelong friendships there.
 
On April 18, 1998 Michael married Tina Schafer in Leavenworth, Kansas.  To this union the Lord 
 
blessed them with four wonderful children Caleb Michael, September 14, 1999, Michaela 
 
Kathleen, April 24, 2001, Claire Marie, July 8, 2003 and Joshua Andrew, December 7, 2004.
 
Michael grew up in the Leavenworth area before relocating with his family to Atchison 15 years 
 
ago.  Mike was employed with Achievement Services of Northeast Kansas prior to his death.  
 
Michael was a friend to all.  He never knew a stranger, and was not afraid of sharing his faith.  
 
Michael enjoyed cooking, hiking, camping and most importantly spending time with his family 
 
and friends.
 
Michael is survived by his wife Tina, sons, Caleb and Joshua; daughters: Michaela and Claire; 
 
brothers: Ronell Starr, Troy, Illinois, Benjamin (Benny) Pierce, Kansas City, Kansas, David (Kim 
 
Cox-Benson) Pierce, Leavenworth, Kansas, Walter Pierce, Ellsworth, KS; his sisters: Clara Mae 
 
Porter, Kansas City, Kansas, Marilyn Starr, Columbus, Georgia, Darlene Pierce, Clearwater, 
 
Florida and Patricia ElBelghiti, San Diego, California along with numerous nephews, nieces, 
 
great nephews, great nieces and a great, great nephew and 3 great, great nieces and other 
 
family and friends.
 
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Raymond Estes, Bernard Pierce and 
 
Samuel Pierce.
