Larry C. Handke, 72, of Atchison KS. died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his home north of Atchison.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Thursday, Dec 3th, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 2rd at the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or Trinity Lutheran School Endowment Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Larry was born on Feb. 3, 1943 in Atchison KS the son of Leonard and Ruby (Armstrong) Handke. He attended Deer Creek and Trinity Lutheran Grade Schools. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1961 and did his glazier apprenticeship that same year. Larry worked as a farmer and also as a glazier for Emery Glass, Atchison for 5 years, Pittsburg Glass, and then Allied Glass, both of St. Joseph, MO., and then for Carter Glass, Kansas City, MO. He was referred to as “Dr. Glazier” for an article in the Kansas City Star. Larry was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Glazier Union, Kansas City, MO. He enjoyed trap shooting, riding motorcycles, bull dozing around the farm, deer hunting and watching western movies. Larry loved to tease and have fun with people, and was always looking for his farmer’s discount.

He was married to the love of his life, Janice Franklin on Dec. 2, 1962. Janice survives of the home. Additional survivors include his children; Debbie (Greg) Dinkel, Kearney, NE, Todd Handke(Kelli Hutchinson), Atchison KS., and Pam (Mark) McKinsey, Holton, KS, a sister, Jeannie (Richard) Durkin, Atchison, KS and grandchildren: Ben, Shane, Brandon, Eric, Emily, Daniel and Jessica. His parents preceded him in death.
