Karlus " Corky" Moore

Karlus Lee “Corky” Moore, age 73 of Nebraska City passed away on Sunday morning, December 6, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.  Corky and his wife Pat moved to Nebraska City in 1977 from Sabetha, KS and raised their family in Nebr. City.

He was born on August 23, 1942 in Falls City, NE; the son of Raymond A. and Catherine (Brazau) Moore.  He attended school in Falls City and graduated from the Falls City High School with the class of 1960.  He then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for a year.

Corky was united in marriage to Patricia Kerl on June 19, 1965 in Falls City, NE; and to this union two sons were born:  Loren and Daniel.

He worked in the Grocery Store Business since he was 12 years old and continued in this industry until his retirement.  Mort recently, Corky was the Manager at the former Food Pride Grocery Store in Nebraska City.  He began his career there in 1999.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3152 and served as the Grand Knight of the Council.  He also served in the National Guard for a short time until he was medically discharged.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Moore of Nebr. City; sons:  Loren R. “Lonnie” Moore and wife Cathy of Nebr. City and Daniel J. Moore of Minden, NE; two grandchildren:  Ashley and Derek Moore; sisters:  Retta Sue Wenger and husband Merlin of Sabetha, KS and Joetta Shaw of Falls City, NE; sister-in-law Janice Moore of Falls City; other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert Moore and a niece Cheryl Moore.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Michael McCabe officiating.  Burial will follow the services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening (12/8) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.  A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Assn. or Lourdes Central Catholic School in Nebr. City.
