Margaret Gaskell

Mary Margaret Jones Gaskell, 82, of rural Atchison County, passed away at her home near Kennekuk, Sunday, January 3, 2016.

Margaret was born to Claude & Ruby (Banning) Jones on March 27, 1933. She attended Mound Valley One Room School House & graduated from Horton High School in 1951.  

She married Tom Gaskell on December 30, 1951 in Topeka, KS. They made their home in the Kennekuk area their entire married lives. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1994.

Margaret's greatest joy was her family & taking care of loved ones. She spent many years feeding the crew that worked at the family business, Gaskell Bolt, & supporting Tom in his mission work with the youth in the area. She later earned her LPN license.

She is survived by her ten children: Gwen Allen, Horton, KS, Tim, Muscotah, KS, Lisa (Dennis) Bell, Atchison, KS, Jill (Steve) Demler, Blanchardville, WI, Kirk (Cindy), Horton, KS, Bruce (Michele), Hiawatha, KS, Mark, Horton, KS, Sally (Tim) Kramer, Atchison, KS, Paul (Stacy), Horton, KS, & Trudy (Craig) Wischropp, Horton, KS; one brother Bob Jones of Horton, KS; 29 grandchildren & 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of Muscotah United Church. She spent many years active in the women's Bible study, teaching Sunday School & Vacation Bible School, & helping out however she could.

Funeral Services are planned for 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Muscotah United Church in Muscotah, KS.  Pastor Al Schirmacher will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday evening, January 5, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, KS.

Memorials may be made to Muscotah United Church or to one of the missionary families Tom & Margaret supported & sent in care of the mortuary. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com.
