Olive Bontrager

Olive Bontrager, 83, of Wetmore, KS passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Afton Care Center. She was born April 8, 1932 near Goff, KS on the family farm. She was the daughter of Henry T. and Lulea M. (Brockman) Thieme.

Olive graduated from Bancroft High School in 1950 at Bancroft, KS. She worked at Valentino’s Pizza and Bauer’s Chocolate Factory in Lincoln, NE. She also raised chinchillas and worked on the family farm in Wetmore, KS with her husband Scottie.

She was a member of the Wetmore Bible Church and Wetmore Bible Study group. Olive was also a member of a canasta card club.

Olive married Leo Scotland “Scottie” Bontrager on August 28, 1950 in Soldier, KS. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2009. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Jones and Sharon E. Thieme; two brothers, Omar Thieme and Robert R. Thieme and son-in-law, Jim Hansen.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Bontrager (Patty) of Lincoln, NE; two daughters, Lana Hansen of Heber, AZ and Sharon Waigand (Phil) of Thayer, IA; two sisters, Pauline Bradley of Lincoln, NE and Shirley Woodall of Big Sandy, TX; 15 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Goff, KS.
