Lyle J. DeBuhr

 Lyle J. DeBuhr was born to John and Meta (Yelkin) DeBuhr on October 21, 1923 on a farm southwest of Auburn near the Stone Church, rural Auburn, Nebraska.  He later moved with his family to a farm south of Auburn where he received his education in the Cloverdale School District through the eighth grade. 

Lyle farmed with his father and later farmed for himself for about six years.

In 1947, Lyle was united in marriage to Alberta Meyers. To this union four children were born. 

In 1960, the family moved to Cook, Nebraska where he was employed by the Arnold Wellensiek family for 16 years.  He later worked for the Campbell’s Soup Company in Tecumseh, retiring after 11 years.  Lyle went into repairing lawn mowers in his garage until 2002, when he moved to Syracuse West View Manor in 2006.

He later transferred to the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse in October of 2015.  He passed away there on January 11, 2016 at the age of 92 years. 

He is survived by his children, Karon Giles and husband James of Wichita, KS, Fran Kalish of Crown Point, IN, Sherry Carman of Panama, NE, Steve DeBuhr and wife Vickie of Bellevue, NE, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. 

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alberta who died in 1980, two sisters, an infant brother and granddaughter, Summer Kalish.                                            

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Jim Helgren officiating.

Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.    Memorials may go to St. Jude’s Children Foundation.  Interment will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cook, Nebraska.    Online condolences may be left @ www.wherrymortuary.com.
