Rita E. Goodwin, 88, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca, Kansas.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell, Kansas.

Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Summerfield. The family will receive visitors at the church starting at 6 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Pallbearers are David Riepenkroger, Scott Mett, Robert Goodwin Jr, Francis Goodwin, Noah Goodwin, and Preston Gronemeyer. Burial will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery following the service.

Rita was born on June 4, 1927 in Seneca, Kansas. She attended school in Baileyville, Kansas and graduated from Baileyville High School in 1946. She married Buddy Lee Goodwin on June 23, 1949 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Summerfield, Kansas, they have been married for 66 years. During their marriage they had three children.

She attended and graduated from Manhattan Vo-Tech in 1972 as a License Practical Nurse; following graduation she worked at Mary Marshall Manor, Marysville, Kansas until she retired. Rita enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, sewing, and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include husband, Buddy Lee Goodwin, Axtell, Kansas; children, Charles (Marlene) Goodwin, Summerfield, Kansas, Mary (Jerry) Riepenkroger, Marysville, Kansas and Robert (Lanna) Goodwin, Beattie, Kansas; 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 soon to be great-great grandchildren.

A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home, Axtell, KS.
