Anna Mae Knowles, 76, of Atchison, Kansas, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Atchison Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, February 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the St. Louis Church Cemetery in the Good Intent Community.  A parish rosary will be recited on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 3:00 PM with visitation to follow until 5:00 PM at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Benedict Parish and may be left in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Anna Mae was born on May 16, 1939 in Purcell, Kansas the daughter of Vincent and Anna (Enzbrenner) Halling.  She attended schools and graduated high school in Denton, Kansas. 

She married Larry E. “Windy” Knowles on October 24, 1964 at St. Mary’s Church in Purcell, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2000. 

Anna Mae worked at Commerce Investments in Atchison and then as a Payroll Supervisor for 25 years at Rockwell International until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of St. Benedict Parish participating as an active member at Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella.  She was an avid KU Basketball and Kansas City Royal’s Baseball fan.  She spent much of her time as a volunteer for the Sacred Heart Thrift Store and making food for funeral dinners. She enjoyed trips to different casinos with friends.  

Survivors include two sons, Tim (Joy) Knowles, Tecumseh, KS, Todd (Lisa) Knowles, Atchison, KS, five grandchildren, Eric Knowles, Allison Knowles, Lauren Knowles, Kelcy Knowles, Kara (Dillan) Soph, two great grandchildren, Adriana Soph, Claire Soph, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Eleanor (Roy) Ostertag and Pat (Diane) Knowles.
