Roselita Marie Roggenkamp

Roselita Marie Roggenkamp, 78, of Wheaton, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at the Onaga Community Hospital.  She was a long-time member of the community.


Roselita was born on April 22, 1937, near Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Paul Henry and Dorothy Broxterman Lierz.  Her family moved to a farm south of Sabetha.  She attended Maple Ridge School, then Oneida grade school.  She graduated from Oneida High School in 1955.  Roselita was employed for five years at Seneca Wholesale.

Roselita married Jerome “Jerry” Roggenkamp on February 8, 1960, in Sabetha.  He preceded her in death October 2, 2009.

Roselita and Jerry moved to Wheaton where they spent their lives together farming and working a Beef Cow and Dairy Operation.  Roselita lived on the family farm following Jerry’s death and maintained a interest in the operation and upkeep.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Wheaton and a member of the Altar Society.  She served on the church council and was involved in religious education.   At the closing of St. Michael’s, she became a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lillis.  There she was an active member in the Alter Society and sang in the choir.  When St. Joseph’s closed in 2011, she transferred to St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Blaine where she continued to be an active member.  Roselita was a gardener and took pride in her flowers as well as the upkeep of the farm.

Roselita is survived by her sons; James Roggenkamp, Wheaton, Gregory Roggenkamp (Reann), O’Fallon, Missouri, and Brian Roggenkamp, Abilene; her three grandchildren; Jacob Boeschling, Seth Roggenkamp and Samantha Roggenkamp; her sister, Isla Faye Wegman, Wheaton; brothers, Marvin Lierz, Roger Leirz, both of Sabetha and Larry Lierz, Fairview.  She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 22, 2016, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Blaine.  Father Daniel Schmitz will be the Celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Lillis.  Mrs. Roggenkamp will lie-in-state on Sunday, at the church, beginning at 3:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  A rosary prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m.  They suggest memorial contributions to St. Columbkille Catholic Church, and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Kufahl Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made at www.campanellafuneral.com.
