Clare Walton
Dishon-Maple Chaney Mortuary in Horton
Muscotah, KS

Clare Walton, 86, of Muscotah, Kansas took his last breath on Earth and first breath in Heaven on Monday, February 29, 2016. He was born on May 17, 1929 in Horton, Kansas the son of Fred and Lena (Berry) Walton. Clare graduated from ACCHS in Effingham, Kansas. He lived a long and prosperous life, filled with joy and happiness. He was married to the love of his life, Joyce (Like) Walton, for 50 years. She preceded him in death on March 6, 1999. Clare farmed for many years. Loving to work the land. His wife once asked him, “If you knew the crop would fail, would you still go ahead and plant?” His answer was yes. He loved to farm that much! Later, he and his wife raised Belgian horses. The excellence of the bloodline spread quickly and over many miles. He sold teams of Belgians to Disneyland and sold teams of draft mules to Silver Dollar City. Clare also made a living as a livestock dealer. Loving every minute of it. He never met a stranger. He made many deals over a piece of pie. His trade took him over many miles, buying, selling and trading livestock. Always loving to strike up a good conversation, and a deal in between. Clare always served as Deacon on his church board and touched many lives doing so. Always leading by example. Lending a hand when ever needed. He also served on the board at Evangel College for many years. Clare is survived by his daughter Carolyn Myers and her husband Bob Myers. Also his Granddaughter DaNette Schutter and husband John Schutter, and his Great-granddaughter Pastor Kara Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Elva Lewis and Mable Routh and two brothers, Andrew and Clarke Walton. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening.
