Opal Mae Kletchka, age 93, Horton, KS, died on March 19, 2016 at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka Kansas.

Opal Kletchka was born on January 18, 1923 at Powhattan, KS, daughter of Gottlieb and Anna Wenger. She graduated from Powhattan High School in 1941. She married William Mullen on June 16, 1945. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1960. She married Laurence Kletchka on December 2, 1961. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2002.

Opal worked in the Horton community as receptionist/assistant for Dr. Joseph Binkley for 23 Years, before her retirement in 1985. Opal was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Horton. She was also a member of St. Leo’s Altar Society, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Horton Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Steven Mullen, Springfield, Virginia; one daughter, Sharon Greenwood, Topeka KS; and one step-daughter, Beverly Wilson, Topeka, KS. Opal is also survived by one brother, Lester Wenger, Topeka Kansas, six grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and eleven great step-grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Wenger, Powhattan, KS; Silver Wenger, Topeka, KS; and Eldon Wenger, Mission, KS; and one sister, Anita Wing, Kansas City, KS. She was also preceded in death by one step-son, Eugene Kletchka, Oak Grove, MO; and two step-daughters, Mary Kletchka, Kansas City, MO; and Marlene Sheets, Topeka, KS.

A Parish Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday, March 22, at 6:30 PM at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary, Horton, KS with visitation to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Horton, KS, followed by burial in St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery, Horton, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Horton, KS or the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
