Ira Amber Johnson, Jr., 73, Parkville, Missouri died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 1:30 p.m at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, March 24th from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to teen activities and services at the Atchison Library and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Ira was born May 11, 1942 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Ira Amber Johnson, II, and Juanita Jewel Lassiter Johnson. He attended elementary school in Kansas City, graduating from Northeast High School in 1960. He then attended and graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a bachelor’s degree in 1972.

Ira was employed as a boiler operator for General Motors Corporation in Fairfax, Missouri for over twenty years until his retirement.

Ira served in the United States Navy from June 21, 1960 until his honorable discharge on April 10, 1964.

He was a member of Antioch Bible Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri and a member of the V. F. W. Post #7356 Parkville, Missouri.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Johnson, Kansas City, MO, two daughters, Misty (Matthew) Collins, Highland, KS, Kelli (Roger) Holthaus, Centralia, KS, a sister, Nancy Christian, Belton, MO, and eight grandchildren.
