Betty J. Bain, 85, formerly of Whiting, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.
 
She was born August 23, 1930, north of Fostoria, the daughter of Cleo and Bertha Shehi Webster.  She was the youngest of five sisters, Eva Holt, Clarice Cade, Esther Havens, Ardeva Gibson and Francis Schmidt, and one brother, Lyle Webster.
 
Betty worked at a grocery store in Holton after she was married.  She later cooked at the Whiting School and then Jackson Heights school after consolidation.  She also owned and operated the Whiting Grocery Store.
 
She married Wesley Aaron Bain on December 14, 1952 at Westmoreland.  He died February 28, 1990.
 
Survivors include two sons, Brian Bain, Whiting, and Bryson Bain and wife Sherri, Holton; a daughter, Cindy Christian-Cormier and husband Wade, Hoyt; and two grandchildren, Aaron Bain and Travis Christian and partner Torri Marney.
 
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 28th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton.  Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery at Whiting.  Betty will lie in state Saturday and after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where family and friends will meet from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  The casket will remain closed.  Memorials are suggested to the Jackson County Friends of Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton, 66436.  On-line condolences may be made at chapeloaksfuneralhome.com
