June (Saxton) Foster

 June (Saxton) Foster was born in Belvidere, Neb. and graduated from Belvidere High School. June and Norris Foster were married on August 19, 1939.

In 1946, after Norris returned from World War II, they moved to Pawnee County to farm. They owned and operated their limestone trucking business from 1955-1978, when they moved to Pawnee City.

Prior to moving, June worked at Kennedy’s Clothing Store and Lou’s True Value in Pawnee City. She worked in the Table Rock City Library and was a teacher’s aide for 11 years in the Table Rock Elementary School. June then became an assistant in the Pawnee City Library, where she retired in 2000.

June was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Pawnee City and was a 35-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. June enjoyed meeting a variety of people and never met a stranger that she couldn’t strike up a conversation. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in her life.

In 2009, June moved to Lincoln and Gramercy Hill’s assisted living to be closer to her children: son and daughter-in-law, Norm and Sharon; son, Lee; and granddaughter, Heather. In January 2013, she became a resident at Tabitha Nursing and Rehab Center. June spent the last five month living in The Elizabeth House, one of Tabitha’s Green House Homes.

Other survivors: grandson, John; granddaughters, Anne and Lisa; great-grandchildren, Lily, Rose, Logan, Emmaline, Jack, Hannah and Caeden; brother, Walt Saxton; sisters Lynn Johnson and Mary Jo Yates; brother- and sister-in-law, Darrel and Raya Foster; two nieces, eight nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, at the Wherry Mortuary, 919 G St.,  in Pawnee City. Pastor Tim Llewellyn. Inurnment will be in the Pawnee City Cemetery. Memorials to the family.
