Robert “Bob” Baum, 80, of Holton, KS passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at Medicalodge Jackson County.

He was born April 7, 1935 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Ernest Roy and Mary Kathryn (Warren) Baum. Bob graduated from Holton High School in 1953. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for 8 years. He had lived in the Holton Community for over 70 years. He was owner and operator of Robert Baum Motors for 28 years and also owned and operated Sears Catalog Store and Cellar Restaurant both in Holton. In earlier years he worked for Laird Noller Ford.

Bob was a member of the First Christian Church, Holton Masonic Lodge, Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Holton Rotary Club. Bob was also a member of the Holton Volunteer Fire Department and Holton Eagles Club. He was on the Holton Football Chain Gang for 50 years, retiring in 2012.

He married Carol Finn on February 28, 1964 in Holton, they later divorced.  He married Norma Marshall Strawn on June 13, 1987 in Topeka. She survives of the home. Other survivors include 3 sons, David Baum (Pam) of Holton, KS, Mike Baum (Ranae) of Topeka, KS and Scott Baum (Susan) of Holton, KS; 3 step-daughters, Tammy Moulden (Mark) of Holton, KS, Monica House (Sherman) of Lake Waukomis, MO and Lisa Strydom (Dave) of Topeka, KS; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
