White Cloud, Kansas native Meredith J. “Jeanie” Idol, 69, of St. Joseph, MO, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, Sunday evening, April 3, 2016.

Jeanie, as she was known by family and friends, was born at White Cloud, July 6, 1946, one of six children born to Henry Eugene “Bean” and Doris Collins Waggoner and spent her growing up years at White Cloud where she attended grade school, later graduating from Highland High School with the class of 1964.  Jeanie received her associate’s degree in business at Highland Junior College, two years later.  She worked as a clerk at the Bank of White Cloud, Doniphan County at the Courthouse, and at Highland College.  She worked many years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Leavenworth, retiring about 10 years ago.

She married Jerry Idol, June 18, 1966, at the Fanning Church.  Due to Jerry’s serving with the military, they moved around a lot including several years spent at Bean Lake near Rushville, MO, prior to making St. Joseph their home about 15 years ago.  He survives.

Other survivors include three daughters:  Tammy Chapman of Lafayette, CO, Jeri Wilds (Craig) of St. Joseph, Kim Urban (Pat) of Highland; a sister Patty Lentz of White Cloud; three brothers:  Mike Waggoner of White Cloud, Charles Waggoner of Sedalia, MO, John Waggoner of Falls City, NE; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Richard Waggoner.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland, with Brad Campbell officiating.  Interment will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Thursday, where the family will meet from 6 until 8 that evening.
