 Reba Lavelle (Hood) Bacon, 95, of Aberdeen, MS passed away April 20, 2016 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton, KS. She was born April 19, 1921 in Monroe County, MS, the daughter of Clarence Lee and Nettie Lee (Rieves) Hood.

 Reba graduated from Aberdeen High School (Aberdeen, MS) in 1940. She had lived in the Aberdeen community for 52 years. She had also lived in Okolona, MS and currently in Holton, KS since 2012. Reba worked for Sears Roebuck in Mississippi and was a homemaker devoted to her family and gardening. She was a member of the Aberdeen First Baptist Church and Eastern Star.

 Reba married William A. Bacon on April 16, 1941 in Monroe County. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Harry Massey; 3 sisters, Mabel Kincaid, Eula Mae Kynard and Sarah Hankins and 5 brothers, Bobby Hood, Garnie Hood, J.B. Hood, Louis Hood and Billy Hood.

 Survivors include 2 sons, William A. “Bill” Bacon (Sandra) of Enterprise, AL and Robert A. “Tony” Bacon (Dannye) of Houston, MS; a daughter, Linda S. Massey of Holton, KS; a sister, Virginia Lanning of Windsor, VA; a brother, Howard Hood (Buster) of Southaven, MS; 6 grandchildren, William A. Bacon III, Chris A. Massey, Mindy Walden, Michelle Jones, Elisha Benton and Lesli McCully and 5 great-grandchildren, William Bacon IV, Laurel Bacon, Joel Cawby, Grand Cawby and Katherine McCully.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen, MS. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Aberdeen. Family will greet friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday before the funeral service. Memorials may be given to the Aberdeen First Baptist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
