Leo J. Hutfles

 Leo J. Hutfles, 93, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 21, 2016 at Falls City. He was born February 2, 1923 at Kelly, KS to the late Charles and Barbara (Berger) Hutfles.

On Martha Boeckman on April 11, 1945 at Kelly, KS.

Leo was raised at Kelly and when married the couple established their home in Kelly. He worked on the family farm until moving to Falls City in 1948 where he took employment as a tire salesman at Montgomery Wards. He then worked for Merle Pryor’s Appliance Store and then for Goodyear Tire Company before becoming employed by Chaney Furniture Store. They sent him to school and he learned to lay floor coverings. He retired at the age of 62 and continued to work part time for the next 20 years with his son and grandson. In 1958 he purchased a farm and farmed part time and raised registered Anges Cattle until selling the farm and herd in 1968. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Falls City Elks Lodge #963 and Knights of Columbus.

Leo is survived by his wife, Martha, of Falls City, children, Steve and his wife Cathy and Karen Pfister and her husband Tim both of Falls City, nine grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill, Harry and Clarence, sisters, Elizabeth Stallbaumer and Hattie Brokamp.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Thomas Dunavan as the presiding priest. Inurnment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.

A parish rosary will be recited on Sunday, 6:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home by Father David Oldham. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
