Rose Ann (Ann) Carrigan, 92, life-long resident of Atchison, died at Dooley Center in Atchison on April 22, 2016. 

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  A parish rosary will be recited on Monday, April 25th at 6:30 p.m. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Parish or Mount St. Scholastica and may be left in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com

Ann was born September 29, 1923 the daughter of James Francis Carrigan and Mary Catharine Hess Carrigan.  She attended Saint Benedict’s grade school and graduated from Mount Saint Scholastica Academy in 1941.   

Following graduation, Ann worked at Mrs. Vick’s Pastry Shop.  From 1944 until her retirement in 1991, Ann worked at City National Bank. She was a well-loved member of the staff and patrons during her 47 years of service, working as a Teller, Teller Supervisor, and Assistant Cashier. 

Ann was a dedicated member of Saint Benedict’s Parish, and for the past 15 years spent an hour each Friday afternoon at the Perpetual Adoration chapel with her sister, Gere. Together they volunteered to count Church collection on Sundays and over the years Ann embroidered hundreds of tea towels for the annual Fall Fiesta.    

Among Ann’s family members, she was famous for her tomato aspic salads and shamrock sugar cookies.  Friends and family could always count on Ann for some warmth, wit and wisdom.  Ann was well rounded in her interests.  Each day she read the entire Kansas City Star and solved crossword puzzles, she loved to watch sports and play games of Gin rummy and Tetris.  Ann was always happy to join in on a round of bridge with friends.   

Ann is survived by her dear sister Gere Carrigan with whom she lived her entire life. She is also survived by generations of nephews and nieces for whom she was a devoted and loving aunt: J. Michael (Lisa) Carrigan, Alexandria, Va.; Patrick (Kathy) Carrigan, Atchison; Mike Healy, Leawood;  Charley (Janelle) Carrigan, Atchison; James (Ellen) Westerhaus, Junction City, and Mary Ann (Albert) Kristek, Auburn, Wa.; 19 great nieces and nephews, 33 great-great nieces and nephews and three great-great-great nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Francis (Bud) Carrigan, Joseph M. Carrigan; one sister Mary Catharine (Carrigan) Westerhaus; and a niece Sr. Celine Carrigan OSB.
