Jack Wallisch

 Jack L. Wallisch, 83, of Meriden, KS formerly of Denison, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born March 16, 1933 in Valley Falls, KS the son John L. and Mayme A. (Spiker) Wallisch.

Jack graduated from Denison High School in 1951. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 – 1954 during the Korean Conflict.

Jack owned and operated Wallisch & Sons Construction for 40 years, from 1966 – 2006. During that time and until the present, he was a farmer and stockman. He was a member and very active, serving as Elder and Awana Leader in the Denison Bible Church. He was presently attending Rock Creek Bible Church. Jack was former member of the Holton and Denison School Boards and former Captain of Denison Storm Spotters. He was summer baseball coach and Optimist basketball coach in earlier years. Jack was very proud to be “Uncle Sam” during the Denison Centennial Parade in 1976.

He married Patricia A. McAlexander on June 16, 1957; she preceded him in death on April 2, 2000. He married Colleen J. (Falley) Tichenor on September 10, 2005; she survives of the home. Other survivors include 2 sons, Cy Wallisch (Colette) of Effingham, KS and John Wallisch (Heather) of Denison, KS; a daughter, Rhonda Davis of Denison, KS; 3 step-daughters, Sherry Bruner (Gary) of Topeka, KS, Nancy Lee (Jerit) of Topeka, KS and Janette Harris (Jared) of Mayetta, KS; 2 step-sons, David Tichenor and Stan Tichenor both of Valley Falls, KS; 2 sisters, Patricia Clark of Topeka, KS and Melba Dodson (Orville) of Onaga, KS; a brother, Forrest “Wally” Wallisch (Marjorie) of Hixon, TN; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren and 11 great-step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
