Virginia Lee Brown, 65, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at her home.

She was born on March 29, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of William and Georgia Brown Powell. Virginia worked as a printer pressman prior to going to work for the U.S. Federal Government in the Department of Immigration.

She married James Brown on July 14, 1984 in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2010. Virginia loved to go camping and fishing with Jim and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Ed (Laura) Fisher of Independence, Missouri; daughter, Jennifer Brown of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Regina Powell of Humansville, Missouri, Vacha McCarty of Independence, Missouri and Georgia Ryan of Independence, Missouri; four brothers, Bill Powell of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Dorsie Powell of Olympia, Washington, Lahiri Powell of Weableau, Misouri and Michael Powell of Independence, Missouri; two grandchildren, Billy and Alexandra.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Muscotah Cemetery. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
