Lilah Kaye Lamphear
Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton

Lilah Kaye Lamphear, 78 of Whiting, Kansas passed away unexpectedly at her home on July 10, 2016.

She was born on August 13, 1937 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Fredrick and Ruby Keyes Lamphear. She was a lifelong resident of Atchison and later Jackson Counties. She graduated from Horton High School in 1955. Lilah attended business school in Topeka. She worked at the Horton National Bank and then for the Selective Service Office in the Courthouse in Hiawatha. She was a Christian and attended the Whiting Baptist Church. Lilah lived on the family farm for more than sixty years and had numerous pets and large gardens. She was a talented seamstress, crochet many items for family members and friends. She also loved working with pottery and had her own Kiln.

Survivors include her brother, Charles (Kay) Lamphear of Lincoln, Nebraska; nephew, Douglas Lamphear; friend, Karen Rodvelt of Holton, Kansas; cousins and three cats.. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will be at the Wheatland cemetery southwest of Horton, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Horton Library or the Hiawatha Library and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
