Izma Seeba
Wherry Mortuary of Tecumseh
Cook, NE

Izma (Buethe) Seeba was born May 9, 1925 in Elk Creek, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry Carl “Charlie” and Beatrice (Morris) Buethe. She was one of four daughters.  She attended school in Elk Creek, Nebraska but completed her senior year, 1943, in California, where her family had moved.

On August 11, 1946 she married Glen Henry Seeba in Oakland, California.  They were blessed with four children, John, Russell, Joan and Kristin.  Glen and Izma returned to Nebraska where they farmed and made their home near Cook, Nebraska.  Izma now celebrates her new life and love of Christ Jesus but also cherished many loves while on earth.  Her “Seeb” children, grandchildren, all family, friends and neighbors.  Other loves included history, writing, cooking, flowers, trees, gardening and sewing.  She hosted many gatherings and forever would offer “something to eat” anytime day or night. She compiled a “Heritage Cookbook” to save recipes from past generations and preserve family history.  Izma also built a successful business, baking wedding and special occasion cakes.  She published a book titled “A Time to Speak” to raise awareness of the needs of children with developmental disabilities and educate the public on the importance of now available childhood vaccinations.  Interest in politics came as she attempted to effect legislation needs for services for the developmentally disabled.

Izma served as a Nebraska delegate to the 1972 Democratic political convention for then presidential elect Senator George McGovern.  She knew how important it was to share the gospel and was very involved with her local congregation at Grace Lutheran in Cook.  She and Glen pieced many blankets for Lutheran World Relief and as members of a parent’s association were involved with the building of “The All Faith’s Chapel” at the Beatrice State Developmental Center.  Izma loved making quilts and crafts and enjoyed many “Seeba Craft Bazaars” and “Kris and Kin” craft shows.  In 2010 Izma joined her “Duff’s family” and peacefully passed to eternal life July 14, 2016.

She is survived by son, John Seeba and wife Rita of Falls City and their children, Angela (Trevor) Hanson and their sons, Avery, Samuel and Nathan of Lincoln, Ryan (Eve) Seeba and their children, Alivia and Aiden of Falls City and Alex (Amanda) Seeba of Falls City, son, Russell Seeba and wife Irene of Johnson, and their children, Justin (Heather) Seeba and their children, Claire and Logan of Lincoln, Clayton (Shellie) Seeba and their children, Cale and Ayla of Kearney, Tom Seeba of Gretna, daughters, Joan Seeba of Auburn and Kristin Wellsandt and husband Larry of Talmage and their children, Mark Wellsandt of Lincoln and Brian Wellsandt and special friend Courtney Borrego of Auburn, sisters, Muriel Epley of Pawnee City and Joan Schatzel and husband Ernst of Farmington Hills, MI, sisters-in-law, Grace Bentzinger and husband Louis of Cook and Leona Druin of Volin, SD,  many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
