Eloise Luginbill

Eloise B. Luginbill, 92, of Baldwin City, Kansas, formerly of Seneca, died on Saturday, July 17, 2016 at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Baldwin City, Kansas.

Eloise was born on November 17, 1923 to Wallace and Mary Ellen Trudgeon Baugher.  She attended a rural country school.  In 1933, the family moved into the town of West Mineral, Kansas. She attended school there and graduated from the 12th grade in 1941. While in school she played basketball, softball and participated in track. She played in the band, the orchestra and in the Drum and Bugle Corps. As a young woman she taught Sunday school for many years. She was employed by the Larned State Hospital; who sent her to Topeka to be trained as a psychiatric aide.

Eloise married George E. Luginbill on July 26, 1952 at Larned, Kansas. In 1955, they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where George got a job in construction and she became the apartment complex manager for 25 years. George retired in 1987, and the couple moved to Sabetha until 1991; then moving to Seneca. In 2001, Eloise moved into Terrace Heights Apartments. March of 2015, she moved to Baldwin City, Kansas.

Eloise enjoyed crocheting, genealogy, cards, bingo, cooking and being very active in her church. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Seneca; and when it closed, she joined the Northridge Church in Seneca. She was a member of the V.F.W Auxiliary and the Legion Auxiliary both in Seneca.

She was preceded in death by her husband George on October 8, 1994; her parents; a son John Taylor Jr.; brothers, James Baugher and Donald Baugher; and a sister, Maurine Able.

She is survived by her son Rick Luginbill of Victorville, CA; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Solarzand of Hesperia, California; and two great-grandsons, John Anton and Steven Michael.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, July 21th at Lauer Funeral Home.  There will be a family visitation on Wednesday, July 20th from 6 to 8 PM at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Burial will be in the Seneca City Cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be given to the Vintage Park Assisted Living in Baldwin City in Eloise’s memory, sent in care of the family.
