Henrietta "Girlie" Stucker
Lancaster, KS
Henrietta “Girlie” M. Stucker, 98, formerly of Lancaster, KS, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Atchison Hospital.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lancaster, with Rev. Jacquie Berlien, officiating. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Monday, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Henrietta M. Zabel was born May 14, 1914 in Atchison, the daughter of Frank R. and Marie (Rohleder) Zabel. Girlie attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School; was a 1932 graduate of Atchison High School; and attended three semesters at Mt. St. Scholastica Business College. Girlie was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker and she devoted her life to helping her husband and sons on the family farm. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and WELCA group of the church, the Lancaster Sunshine Unit, and the Bunko Club. Girlie enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, tatting, quilting, and sewing.
Girlie and Charles F. Stucker were united in marriage on September 15, 1940 in Kansas City, MO. Charles preceded Girlie in death on November 26, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Zabel.
Survivors include two sons, David Stucker, Lancaster and Don (Leila) Stucker, Lancaster; two grandchildren, Catherine (David) Crist, Lancaster and Jeffery Stucker, Lancaster; one brother, Fred Zabel, Atchison.
