Keith Robert Lanter, 61 of rural Horton, died Saturday morning July 30, 2016 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.


He was diagnosed with cancer in August 2015. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of friend and family carried him through this battle. Keith was born on August 17, 1954 in Horton, Kansas the son of Robert and Wilda (Law) Lanter. Keith attended Horton High School graduating with the class of 1972. He then attended Kansas Sate University graduating in 1976. Keith worked as a grain inspector for the state of Kansas and Missouri. He later worked for the Golden Eagle Casino until his health started failing. Keith was member of the First Baptist Church in Horton, Kansas and enjoyed watching sports.

On June 4, 1977 he married the love of his life, Lynn Rogers. She survives of the home. Born into this union were two sons, Aaron (Robyn) Lanter of rural Hiawatha and Andrew (Laura) Lanter of rural Horton. Keith loved his grandchildren dearly and had a very special place in his heart for Natalee, Cooper and step granddaughter, Austyn. Other survivors include his sister, Kaye Rowe of Topeka, Kansas; brother-in-law, Larry Rogers of Horton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith".


A celebration of Keith's life will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church New Building Fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
