Stella E. Glennon, 84, of Atchison KS died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Monday, Aug. 8th, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal.OSB as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Pat’s Cemetery, south of Atchison. A parish rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 7th, 2016 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Benedictine Sisters, St. Benedict’s Grade School or St. Benedict’s Abbey and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Stella E. Wagner was born on Nov. 17, 1931 in the St. Pat’s Community, the daughter of Lawrence M. and Juliana (Mayr) Wagner. She graduated from Mt. St. Scholastic in 1949. Stella worked as an assistant to Dr. Charles Brady, where she met the man she would marry, Louis Glennon. The Glennon’s owned and operated several car service stations from 1958-1971. They owned and operated Town & Country Tire Supply from 1971 until their son Dan took over the business in 1993. Stella was the bookkeeper for all the businesses. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where she participated in the Altar Society and perpetual adoration since its inception. She was a Road to Recovery volunteer, a member of the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary, Nursing Scholarship Committee and was a hospice volunteer. While the children were growing up she was active in PTA and Scouts, faithfully attending all the children’s sporting and school activities. Stella enjoyed traveling and visiting with her devoted family.

Stella was married to Louis M. “Louie” Glennon on June 9, 1952 and celebrated 57 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 10th, 2009. Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Glennon, Kansas City, MO, four sons, Chris Glennon, Pennisacola, FL, Steve Glennon, Washington, KS , Dan (Karen) Glennon, Atchison, KS and Ken (Katie) Glennon, Topeka, KS, a brother, Lawrence J. Wagner, Kansas City, KS., four grandchildren, Carly, Sam, Kevin, and Christopher Glennon, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband Louie, and two sisters, Sr. Rose Marie (Salome) Wagner, and Sr. Delores Wagner preceded her in death.
