Helen J. (Drake) Foster, 95, of Troy, Kansas passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Living Community of St. Joseph, Missouri.

Helen was born on September 9, 1920 near Leona, Kansas to Charles & Lottie (Ritenour) Drake.  She attended & was promoted from Laverentz country school near Leona & graduated from Severance High School.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church & United Methodist Women of Troy, Kansas & the Moray Friends Club & the Don Brown Messiah Choir. Helen taught Sunday school & played piano for both the Severance Methodist Church & the Troy United Methodist Church & Sunday school for over 40 years. She was a homemaker & a farmer’s wife, enjoying her gardening. Growing up with 10 brothers & sisters, one of her responsibilities was to bake bread every 3 days for the family.

Helen married Lloyd Foster on February 8, 1939 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers & 5 sisters.

Survivors: son, Stephen Foster of Moss Point, Missisippi;
William Foster of Troy, Kansas;
Daughters, Marilee White of Topeka, Kansas;
Joy Lowe of Maryville, Missouri;
Sister, Rosemary (Drake) Nelson of Boulder, Colorado;
8 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren;
Nieces & nephews.

At the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home, Troy, Kansas
Visitation: 7-9 Sunday, at the funeral home, where friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Sunday.Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Severance, Kansas
