Everett King
Humboldt , NE

Everett Lou King, 87, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on August 15, 1924, on a farm near Humboldt, Nebraska to Aaron Silas and Mary E. (Snoke) King.  Everett grew up on a farm southeast of Humboldt and attended Lynchburg country school.  He later graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1941.
After graduation, Everett began farming with his father until enlisting in the United States Army.  He served his country from September 30, 1946 to January 7, 1948.  During his active service, Everett served during the occupation of Japan at a Tokyo hospital that was a communication center.  He worked out of the center delivering messages around the Tokyo area.  After his military service, Everett returned home to Nebraska to help his family farm.
On July 16, 1958, Everett was united in marriage to Ardis Kors, daughter of the late Elmer and Rose Kors, at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska.  To this union two children, Sondra and Alan, were born.  The couple raised their family on the Kors family farm North of Humboldt where Everett continued farming.  They later moved into Humboldt after retiring from the farm.  Everett was very active in the community and belonged to many clubs and organizations.  He was a member of The Christian Church and later joined the United Methodist Church where he helped serve the church by taking attendance each Sunday.  Everett was a member of the Humboldt Rotary Club where he was the charter organization representative for the Humboldt Boy Scout Troop #387.  He also belonged to the Harvey-Mann Legion Post #269, Farm Bureau, and the Humboldt Masonic Lodge #40.  Everett received 50 year recognition for being the chairman for agricultural produce at the Richardson County Fair and continued helping until recently. 
Everett passed away at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska on Monday, May 28, 2012 having reached the age of eighty-seven years, nine months, and thirteen days.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dale.

Everett is survived by his loving wife Ardis King of Humboldt, NE; daughter Sondra Helms and her husband Keith of Auburn, NE; son Alan King and his wife Linda of rural Humboldt, NE; twin sister Emma Lee De Jonge and her husband Lammert of Humboldt, NE; grandchildren: Lucas Geyer of Lincoln, NE; Codi King of Humboldt, NE; Lacee Geyer of rural Humboldt, NE; a great-granddaughter Lexus Tichy of Humboldt, NE; sister-in-law Lucile King of Humboldt, NE; and many other relative and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Jaclyn Hoy officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be at the Humboldt Cemetery.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Harvey-Mann Legion Post #269 and the Nebraska Army National Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church or to family’s choice.
