Bonita K. "Bonnie" Turner, 66, Kansas City passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Bonnie was born June 15, 1950 in Sabetha, KS to John J. and Loretta Huerter Niehues. She attended grade school and St. Bede’s High School in Kelly, KS, graduating in 1968. She moved to Kansas City and worked as an accountant, including work at Baird, Kurtz & Dobson from 1982 to 2015.

An extreme advocate for the Down Syndrome Guild, Bonnie cared about people, flowers and was deeply devoted to her son, Bryon. She was very involved at St Gabriel Catholic Church, loved parties and gained energy from the getting people together.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, John on December 9, 1994, Loretta on August 1, 2015; an infant son, Craig Allan Turner on November 23, 1971.

Survivors include her son, Bryon Earl Turner, a sister Mary Jane (Robert) Holthaus of Seneca, a brother John B. (Darlene) Niehues of Havensville, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is Thursday, Sept. 1 from 6:00-8:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 Vivion Road, Kansas City, concluding with Rosary at 7:30. The Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, Sept 2, at 10:00 AM at St Gabriel Catholic Church, 4737 N Cleveland Ave., Kansas City.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Sept 3 from 10:00 – 12:00 at Lauer Funeral Home 212 S Fourth Street, Seneca, KS, burial to follow at St. Bede Cemetery in Kelly, Kansas.

In memory of Bonnie, the family suggests contributions to the St Gabriel’s Altar Society or St Bede Cemetery, in Kelly, KS.
