Charles Edwin “Charlie” Scheidegger, 100, of Holton, KS passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at Vintage Park in Holton. He was born February 7, 1916 in Dawson, NE the 7th born of 13 children of George Nicholas and Carrrie (Boop) Scheidegger.

Charlie attended Holton schools. He had worked for Ford Garage and Shorty Nott’s Service Station, before joining the military. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and European Theatre era. After he was honorably discharged from the military, Charlie owned and operated Shy’s Repair in Holton, retiring after 50 years. After retirement, he worked for Leeper Hardware in Holton for about 5 years.

He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served at treasurer for many years and was Emeritus Trustee. Charlie was also a member of V.F.W. Post #1367.

Charlie married Ruby Asilee Wilson on April 11, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. She preceded him in death on June 14, 1993. He married Jan Bell and they were later divorced. He was also preceded in death by 7 sisters and 5 brothers.

Survivors include 2 sons, Mike Scheidegger (Teresa) of Holton and Dennis Scheidegger of Topeka; a daughter, Connie Allen (Dale) of Holton; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Holton Cemetery.
