Ronald Dean Folk, 74, of Holton, KS passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at Medicalodges Jackson County. He was born June 24, 1942 in Lorraine, KS the son of Guy and Sylvia (Klima) Folk.

Ron graduated from Holyrood High School in 1960. He attended Emporia State for 1 year and was a member of the football team. Ron then transferred to Kansas State University graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and later graduated from Wichita State University in 1973 with a Master’s Degree in Education Counseling.

Ron was an Industrial Arts Teacher and basketball coach from 1965 – 1968 at Pawnee Rock High School in Pawnee Rock, KS; from 1968 – 1974 he was a Industrial Arts Teacher for 3 years and a counselor for 3 years; he was also the basketball coach for all 6 years for Clearwater High School in Clearwater, KS. From 1974 - 1975 he was Holton Middle School Counselor and basketball coach; from 1975 – 1987 Ron was Holton Middle School Principal. In 1987 Ron was Holton High School Principal and basketball coach until his retirement in 2000.

He was board member of Kansas State High School Activities Association and a long time member of the Holton Country Club. Ron was an avid golfer and active supporter of Holton High School and K-State Athletics.

Ron married Janice Lee Brown on September 1, 1962 in Holyrood, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include 2 sons, Doug Folk (Shannon) of Shawnee, KS and Scott Folk (Dee) of Holton, KS; a sister, Sharon Poor of Hutchison, KS; 7 grandchildren, Dylan, Clayton, Blayne and Rafe Folk, Aaron (Suzette) Brooks, Taylor Brooks and Chandler Folk and 4 great-grandchildren, Brylee, Ellie, Carter and Mason.

A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Holton Country Club. Family will greet friends until 2:00 p.m. after the service. Inurnment will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Holyrood, KS.
