Fred “Marv” Harring, 84, of Falls City, NE, passed away November 5, 2016 at Falls City. He was born April 23, 1932 at Salem, NE to the late Fred T. and Violet M. (Arnold) Harring.

Marv entered the U.S. Air Force on May 23, 1952, honorably discharged on January 24, 1961. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award.

On August 12, 1956 he married E. Pauline Schulze at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Verdon, NE. She passed away on January 7, 2004. On July 28, 2005 he married Carolee Shelton Kendall at Falls City.

Marv was raised in Salem, NE area and graduated from Dawson-Verdon High School in 1950. He farmed with his father for 2 years and entered the Military Service in 1952, he served 8 ½ years in the United States Air Force retiring in 1961. Marv returned from the service to live in Pawnee County and later in Johnson County before moving to Lincoln in 1961 and took employment with the Department of Corrections and later the Department of Roads, retiring in 1987, he served the State of Nebraska a total of 25 years. In 1991 he moved to Verdon, served on the church council, a Boy Scout Master Leader in Hickman, NE for several years. Marv and Carolee moved to Lincoln to be closer to family and moved back to Falls City in May of 2016.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20th and Towle Street, Nebraska Police Officer’s Association of Lincoln, DAV Chapter #43 of Falls City, American Legion Post #102 of Falls City.

Marv is survived by his wife Carolee Harring of Falls City, daughter, Martha Harring of Tecumseh, NE, sons, Mikel Jon Harring of Lincoln, Eric Dale Harring of Winston-Salem, NC, step-daughters, Georgia Beckner of Falls City, Leslie Gail Cluck of Troy, KS, step-sons, Jeffery Miner of Lincoln, James Miner of Temple, Christopher Miner and his wife Rebecca of Fairview Heights, IL, brother, Walter Harring and his wife Barbara of Lincoln, sister, Colene Hance and her husband Bill of Lincoln, half-sister, Ilene Kimes of Humboldt, NE, grandchildren, Christine Harring, Michael Harring, Brittany Harring, Thomas Root and Matthew Harring, and 10 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and step-brother, Harlan Harring.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Andrew Chavanak officiating. Inurnment will be at Steele Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard. 

There will be no visitation, friends may sign the guest book at the Dorr and Clark Funeral Home during business hours.
