Alice Leone Flentie, 97, of Centralia, KS passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia.

Alice was born in Green, Kansas on February 15, 1919 to Orrin Perry and Lottie (Cochran) Caley.

She graduated from Green High School in 1937. Alice taught at Coffel School in Clay County for 2 years. She served on the draft board before and during WWII. She married Francis Flentie on May 7, 1939 at Green, Kansas. They were members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Centralia for many years. Francis and Alice were the first community leaders of Centralia Aces 4-H Club and were leaders for 17 years of the club. Alice was also a member of the Centralia Legion Auxiliary, the Quilting Club, and was a self-taught poet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis on September 7, 1993; two brothers, Lawton Caley and Homer Caley; her parents, and Stanley Smith “A Special Cousin”.

She is survived by her children, Mary Frances (George) Holdren of Clay Center, Kansas, Perry Robert (Susie) Flentie of Shawnee, Kansas, and William James (Lura) Flentie of Centralia, Kansas; grandchildren, Sarah (Caleb) Cook, Lauren (Dustin) Moennich, and Katy Flentie, and great grandchildren, Cody and Tyler Cook and a great granddaughter, Madelyn Moennich.

Memorial service will be Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Community Church in Centralia. Inurnment will follow at the Centralia Cemetery.
