Charles Leroy Martinez, 76, Independence, Missouri died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at his home.

Memorial services will be Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas, with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB officiating. Interment of cremains will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, November 19th from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Charles was born July 12, 1940 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Jose R. and Julia V. Martinez. He attended catholic elementary schools in Atchison, graduating from Maur Hill Prep School.

He was employed with the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri for over twenty five years until his retirement.

Survivors include a son, Vinson (Tammy) Martinez, Orrick, MO; a daughter, Tina (David) Byard, Belton, MO; two sisters, Mary Salinas, Lee’s Summit, MO; Alice Nester, Lake St. Charles, LA; and four grandchildren.
