Cecelia Alice Sauer

Cecelia Alice Sauer, 80, died November 14, 2016 at the House at Midland Care.  Cecelia was born in Atchison, Kansas on October 15, 1936 the daughter of Antone and Mary (Medsker) Anslinger. 

She was a graduate of Mt. St. Scholastica High School in Atchison and received an Associate of Arts degree from Washburn University in Business.  She was a homemaker while her children were young.  She entered the real estate market as a Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Griffith & Blair and retired from REMAX Realty.  She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and had been a former member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church where she served as a Girl Scout Leader.  Cecelia taught swimming lessons at the YWCA and also at her home.  She enjoyed playing golf and bridge, reading and traveling.  Her memberships included the American Business Women’s Association, P.E.O. Chapter CS, Women in Real Estate, Women’s Club where she was a life member and past President, board member of the YWCA and Everywoman’s Resource Center.  Cecelia hosted the ERC Show House for two years. 

She married George B. Sauer at St. Benedict’s Church in Atchison on November 24, 1955.  They celebrated 60 years together.  He survives.  She is also survived by her son, Matt Sauer and his wife Anne-Kelly of Topeka, two grandchildren, Garrett and Dustin Ledbetter, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Anslinger of Matawan, New Jersey, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Cecelia was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Marie on January 7, 1991 and her brother, Al Anslinger. 

A memorial visitation will be held 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church.  Inurnment will be held at a later date. 

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Midland Hospice Care, the Women’s Club, or the Arab Shrine Hospital Travel Fund and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
