Floyd R. Shumaker, 83, of Wetmore, KS passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Holton Community Hospital. He was born June 3, 1933 in Wetmore, the son of Freddie Jacob “F.J.” and Mae Christine (Wittenbach) Shumaker.

Floyd graduated from Wetmore High School in 1951. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy during Korean Conflict. He was a life-long rancher and was also a barber in Topeka and Fairview.

Floyd was a member of the Sabetha V.F.W. Post 7285, Wetmore American Legion Post 282 and National Rifle Association.

He married Dolores Griffiths on December 19, 1954 in Centralia. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Todd E. Shumaker (Linda) of Lincoln, NE; a daughter, Lori Ann Farley (Chris Kosek) of Wetmore, KS; a sister, Dolores A. Bartley (Bill) of Topeka, KS; a brother, Rex A. Shumaker of Wetmore, KS; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Wetmore Cemetery.
