Rita J. (Koelzer) Eisenbarth, 90, of Blue Springs, Missouri, formerly of Corning, Kansas died on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs. Rita was born on August 17, 1926, at home in Seneca, Kansas to Lawrence G. and Anna A. Weber Koelzer. She attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and graduated from the 8th grade. As a young woman she helped her parents as well as neighbors with new babies and young children. On August 27, 1947 Rita married Robert H. Eisenbarth at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning. They lived and farmed east of Corning until 1957; when they moved to St. Benedict, where Robert had a job as the custodian. In the early 1960’s at St. Benedict, Rita was a cook for the Nuns and for the St. Mary’s School. In 1970 the couple moved to Kansas City and in 1975 to Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Robert passed away on January 7, 1976. While in Kansas City she was employed by Unity Village as a cook, until she retired. Rita was a member of Our Lady of Presentation Church in Lee’s Summit and a former member of St. Patrick’s Church in Corning. Rita had many hobbies including, bingo, fishing, crafts, embroidering and crocheting. She especially enjoyed making quilts. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rose Irene Eisenbarth on January 22, 1958; siblings, Melvin Koelzer on January 1, 2001, Sylvester on June 15, 2012, Andrew Koelzer on May 29, 1942, George Koelzer on May 14, 1930, Dorothy Koelzer on December 15, 1948, Margaret Koelzer on January 11, 1944 and Clara Niehues on February 21, 1993. She is survived by her daughter Catherine (Richard) Hatfield of Independence, Missouri; and a son, Leonard (Sue) Eisenbarth of Independence, Missouri; three sisters, Lorene Olberding of Baileyville, Kansas, Ann Broxterman of Silver Lake, Kansas and Mary Haverkamp of Seneca, Kansas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be 11AM on Monday, November 28, 2016 at St. Patrick's Church in Corning. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosary will be prayed prior to the Mass; with a visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Memorials may be given for St. Patrick's Church and or Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
