Mabel J. Harris, 87, of Soldier, KS passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia. She was born March 2, 1929 in rural Soldier, the daughter of Guy and Angelica (Van Valkenburgh) Nott.

Mabel graduated from Soldier High School in 1948 and had lived all of her life in Soldier as a farmwife and homemaker. She had also worked for Stauffer Communications in Topeka.

She attended Bucks Grove United Methodist Church and was a Pleasant Valley 4-H Leader.
 
Mabel married Clinton H. Harris on June 23, 1948 in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1985. She was also preceded in death by 3 infant grandchildren, James and Angela Lorenzen and Cruzan Trickle.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Yvonne Trickle (Ed) of Soldier, KS, Shirley Lorenzen (Tim) of Charlestown, WV and Laveita Harris of Olympia, WA; 2 sons, Clinton “Butch” Harris (Dori) of Soldier, KS and Lester Harris (Jo) of Havensville, KS; a step-son, Gordon Harris of California; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial to follow in the Olive Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
