Darlene Beatty, 65, of Onaga, KS passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Medicalodge Jackson County. She was born October 4, 1951 in Hurricane, WV, the daughter of Arnold Kellison Clagg and Geraldine Angelina (Campbell) Clagg.

Darlene graduated from Hurricane High School in 1969. Shortly after graduating, Darlene married Bruce J. Beatty on July 19, 1969 in Hurricane, WV.

Darlene was a homemaker and “stay at home mom” for her husband and daughters. Darlene then earned her associates diploma in early education from Southwest Community College.

Darlene had lived in the Onaga community since 2007 and had previously lived in Omaha, NE, Creston, IA and West Virginia.

Darlene was the founding member of Shalom Baptist Church in Fraziers Bottom, WV and was active in P.T.A. until her daughters were in junior high school.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dwight Clagg. She is survived by her loving husband Bruce Beatty. Other survivors include two daughters, Melissa Woods (John) of Omaha, NE, Stacy Perry (Mark) of Missouri City, TX; two sisters, Linda Snyder (Bob) of Lebanon, PA and Tina Payne (David) of Nitro, WV; a brother, Gary Clagg (Barbara) of Hurricane, WV; four grandchildren, Sydney, Emily, Sophie Woods and Aidan Bruce Perry.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Springhill Cemetery in Whiting.
